Powerlifting Coaching Workshop

June 27 and 28th, 2026

FEA Academy Maldives successfully concluded its Powerlifting Coach Workshop on 27th and 28th June 2026, continuing its commitment to delivering internationally aligned fitness education that meets the evolving needs of the Maldivian fitness industry.

Hosted at Legacy Fitness, Hulhumalé, the two-day workshop welcomed five participants, bringing together coaches, lifters, and strength enthusiasts eager to deepen their understanding of the science and coaching principles behind one of the fastest-growing strength sports in the world.

As powerlifting continues to gain significant popularity throughout the Maldives, particularly among younger athletes and recreational lifters, FEA Academy Maldives recognised the growing need for structured coaching education in this discipline. Rather than focusing solely on lifting heavier weights, the workshop introduced participants to the essential coaching principles that underpin safe, effective, and long-term athlete development.

Throughout the course, participants explored both theoretical knowledge and practical coaching applications, including:

  • The fundamentals of coaching the squat, bench press, and deadlift

  • Technical analysis and movement mechanics

  • Coaching cues and lifting corrections

  • Programming principles for strength development

  • Training progression and exercise selection

  • Competition preparation and coaching considerations

  • Injury prevention and long-term athlete development

  • Practical coaching and hands-on lifting sessions

The workshop emphasised that successful powerlifting coaching extends beyond teaching the three competition lifts. Participants learned how to analyse movement, identify technical faults, build effective strength programmes, and coach athletes with confidence using evidence-based principles that prioritise both performance and longevity. These topics reflect internationally recognised coach education standards in powerlifting.

The successful completion of this workshop represents another positive step for the Maldivian fitness industry. As interest in powerlifting continues to grow locally, educational opportunities such as these play an important role in ensuring coaches possess the knowledge and practical skills required to support athletes safely and effectively while raising professional standards across the industry.

FEA Academy Maldives remains committed to working alongside its international education partners to introduce specialised courses that address the changing needs of the local fitness community. As the industry continues to evolve, more workshops and professional development opportunities are already being planned to provide Maldivian coaches with access to globally recognised education without having to leave the country.

We extend our sincere congratulations to all five participants for successfully completing the workshop and thank them for their commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

This workshop marks another milestone in FEA Academy Maldives' ongoing mission to elevate fitness education and empower the next generation of knowledgeable, skilled, and confident fitness professionals across the Maldives.
